Our Story – The Grill by Kay

Cooking has always been a huge part of who I am. Even back in high school, I loved being in the kitchen, experimenting with flavors, cooking for friends, and realizing that good food has a special way of bringing people together. I didn’t know it then, but those moments were planting the seeds for what would eventually become my dream career.

Entrepreneurship runs deep in my family’s blood. I grew up surrounded by hardworking people who built their own paths from the ground up, and I’ve carried that same determination in everything I do. I’ve always believed that if you mix passion with persistence, there’s no limit to what you can create.

Today, I’m proud to say that I’ve built The Grill by Kay, my kitchen located inside JD’s Roadhouse in Baltic, Connecticut. What started as a small step has turned into something I’m truly proud of, a place where people come for homemade, flavorful food made with heart. From there, my business expanded into custom catering, where I get to create personalized buffets and themed events that let me share my creativity and love for food with others.

Now, I’ve taken that dream even further with The Grill by Kay on Wheels, my food trailer that brings my menu to local festivals, schools, and community events. It’s been amazing to see how far this journey has come, and it’s only the beginning.

None of this would have been possible without my incredible support system. My life partner, Michael, has been my rock through every crazy idea, long night, and new adventure. He’s always believed in me, even when I doubted myself, and he’s a huge reason I’ve been able to turn my dreams into reality. My family and friends have been there every step of the way too, cheering me on, lending a hand, and pushing me to keep going no matter what.

And of course, our six amazing children are our biggest inspiration. They’re the reason We work as hard as we do every single day. We want to show them that with hard work, faith, and determination, you can build something of your own and make a difference doing what you love. We try to teach them through our actions that success doesn’t come easy, it’s earned through late nights, dedication, and believing in yourself even when it’s hard.

I hold an Associate’s degree in Accounting and Business, which has played a key role in helping me grow and manage my ventures with confidence. Every experience, both challenges and victories, has shaped my journey as an entrepreneur.

For me, The Grill by Kay isn’t just a business. It’s a reflection of my journey, my passion, my family, and the community that’s supported me from the very start. It’s proof that dreams really can come true when you put your heart into them.
